Appointment

Parent/carer review session

This is an appointment for parents/carers that have a child in weekly psychotherapy. It is an important part of a child's psychotherapy. It provides a space to think together about how your child is progressing, what you are noticing at home, and what might be going on beneath their behaviour and what you see. Rather than focusing on the details of your child's private therapy, we will think more broadly about how adults and the environment around them can support their progress. Where helpful, we may also think about patterns within the parent-child relationship and how these can be understood and responded to differently. Finally, we will consider any upcoming changes or important events and plan ahead for these. This includes when the time comes to end therapy.

Initial 75-minute consultation for parents/carers/professionals

An initial consultation to tell me more about a child's situation and your concerns, and together explore different types of support available, including whether the services that I offer could help. I will explain the way that I work and you can ask questions. If helpful, I may offer some general advice. This appointment is for adults only and therefore the child in your care does not attend. Young people over 18 may choose to come on their own instead of a parent (e.g. if semi-independent and/or attending university away from home).

If already clear on what service you are seeking (e.g. psychotherapy, parent reflective space, VIG, an educational psychology assessment), please indicate this on the booking form. Check availability on my website homepage or by contacting me before booking to avoid any disappointment.

If seeking an Educational Psychology Assessment please indicate whether you would like the appointment online or in-person. If you would like to involve a child's school in this initial consultation please let me know and speak with the school and ensure that a member of staff (e.g. SENDCo, class teacher or Head of Year) is available to join in-person/remotely at the given date and time.

As well as a confirmation email upon booking, you will receive another email with information about coming to your first appointment. If you do not receive these emails and cannot find them in your spam folder, please contact me.

Educational Psychology Assessment (as previously instructed or agreed)

These appointments are for schools or parents, who have been instructed by me to schedule an Educational Psychology Assessment. Any appointments made not instructed by me will be cancelled. It is important that parents and schools liaise to confirm the date and time of booking before it is made. Please indicate in the booking the child's initials and if not already established, whether the assessment can take place in school or whether alternative arrangements will need to be made (e.g. online consultations or the assessment taking place at my practice in Norwich).

Once a time slot has been confirmed I will be in contact to agree a structure for the assessment. There is a usual process of involvement but this can be adjusted within reason when required, e.g.
9:15am - Meeting with parents and school staff that know the young person best.
10:15am - observation / discussion with young person / further 1:1 assessment TBA.
If the child or young person is unable to attend school, alternative arrangements will be made.
