Initial 75-minute consultation for parents/carers/professionals

An initial consultation is to explore your concerns about a child in your care, what has been tried, consider types of support available and plan next steps. This appointment is for adults only and therefore the child in your care does not attend. However, young people over the age of 18 may choose to come on their own instead of a parent (e.g. if they are semi-independent and/or attending university away from home).

It is helpful if you indicate which service you may be seeking (e.g. psychotherapy, VIG, or an educational psychology assessment) in the relevant section when booking as you will be sent a referral form to complete relevant to that service prior to your appointment. If you are requesting a Child & Educational Psychology assessment you will also be asked if you would like the consultation to be online or in-person, and if you would prefer to involve school in the initial appointment.

As well as a confirmation email upon booking, you will receive another email with information about coming to your first appointment. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive these emails.

Educational Psychology Assessment commissioned by the Local Authority

These appointments are for schools or parents, who have been instructed by me to schedule an appointment for an Educational Psychology Assessment. These are commissioned by The Local Authority to contribute towards Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) processes.

Once a time slot has been confirmed I will be in contact to agree a structure for the school visit. If the child or young person is unable to attend school, alternative arrangements will be made. There is a usual process of involvement but this can be adjusted within reason when required, e.g.
9:15am - Meeting with parents and school staff that know the young person best.
10:15am - classroom observation / discussion with young person / further 1:1 assessment TBA.
